POEditor pricing, per string and nothing else
One meter, five steps, no seat arithmetic. POEditor has the simplest pricing of any tool on this site, and that simplicity is worth saying out loud.
| Plan | Per month | Keys |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | 1,000 |
| Start | $20 | 3,000 |
| Plus | $60 | 10,000 |
| Premium | $160 | 30,000 |
| Enterprise | $260 | 100,000 |
The unit
Strings, not seats and not languages
Billed per key in the project. Adding a target language does not raise it; adding strings does.
POEditor counts source strings across your account. A project with 3,000 strings costs the same whether you translate it into three languages or thirty, and it costs the same whether two people or twenty are working in it: paid plans include unlimited contributors and unlimited projects. That combination is unusual. Most tools on this page meter something that grows when you add a market or a colleague, which means their cost rises for reasons that have nothing to do with how much text you wrote. POEditor's does not.
Which step you land on
The free tier covers 1,000 strings, which is enough for a small app or a marketing site to actually run on. Start is $20 a month for 3,000 strings, Plus is $60 for 10,000, Premium is $160 for 30,000 and Enterprise is $260 for 100,000. Annual billing takes 15 percent off and six-month billing takes 10 percent, so Start at annual is $17 a month. The only thing to watch is that the ladder counts everything in the account, so several projects share one budget and the step you need is decided by your total, not by your largest project.
What we charge instead
€19 per seat and month, incl. VAT, cancellable monthly. Ten seats cost €105 together, which is the 10-seat plan. On top of that €10 per million tokens, charged only for strings that are new or whose source changed. A string already in the translation memory costs nothing, not on the tenth release either. Bring your own model key and no token cost arises at all.
One language file in. 64 languages out.
No seat you forgot to cancel, no allowance that expires, no per-language multiplier. You pay for the strings that changed and nothing else.
€19 per month incl. VAT, cancellable monthly.
Questions
- Is the POEditor free plan actually usable?
- For a small product, yes. It covers 1,000 strings and unlimited projects, with some restriction on contributors. That is a real free tier rather than a trial, which is rarer than it should be.
- Do contributors cost extra?
- No. Paid plans include unlimited contributors and their work counts against the account's string limit rather than a per-seat charge. If you have many people touching translations, this is the cheapest model on this page by a wide margin.
- Does adding a language cost more?
- No. The meter is source strings, so target languages are free of charge in pricing terms. Compare that with an hosted-word model, where the language count multiplies the billable number directly.
- What is not in the price?
- The translations themselves. POEditor is where strings and contributors live; producing the translated text is either your translators' work or machine translation through your own provider account. Budget that separately.
