The unit
Seats are the meter, not words
Billed per seat. The price is the same whether the team ships a release this month or not.
The plan price buys a number of seats, and a seat is a person with a login. That is the unit to model your cost on: adding a target language does not change the subscription, and neither does a quiet month. What does change it is a colleague who needs access. Lokalise also separates standard seats from advanced seats on the higher plans, so the person who only reviews and the person who configures the project are not necessarily the same price. On top of the seats sit yearly allowances for machine and AI translated words; the plan page lists them per tier without publishing the exact word counts, so budget those by asking sales rather than by reading the page.
What a small team actually pays
Two developers on Explorer is $144 a month, or $1,728 a year, before any AI word allowance runs out. Nothing about that number depends on whether you shipped. If a third person joins and the plan does not cover the seat, the next step up is Growth at $375, which is a 160 percent jump for one login. That step is the part worth planning for: seat-metered pricing is smooth until it is not, and the jumps between tiers are where the surprise lives.
What we charge instead
€19 per seat and month, incl. VAT, cancellable monthly. Ten seats cost €105 together, which is the 10-seat plan. On top of that €10 per million tokens, charged only for strings that are new or whose source changed. A string already in the translation memory costs nothing, not on the tenth release either. Bring your own model key and no token cost arises at all.
One language file in. 64 languages out.
No seat you forgot to cancel, no allowance that expires, no per-language multiplier. You pay for the strings that changed and nothing else.

- Does Lokalise have a free plan?
- Not a permanent one. The pricing page offers a 14-day free trial without a credit card, after which a paid plan is required. The listed entry plan is Explorer at $144 a month.
- Is annual billing cheaper?
- The pricing page offers a monthly and annual toggle, so an annual discount exists, but the exact annual figures are not shown alongside the monthly ones on the public page. Treat the monthly numbers as the honest upper bound and ask for the annual quote.
- What is not included in the plan price?
- Machine and AI translated words are capped per tier, and human translation ordered through the platform is a separate cost. Those two are the usual reason a Lokalise invoice is larger than the plan price.
- How does that compare to paying per token?
- The difference is what happens in a quiet month and what happens on the tenth release. Seat pricing is flat, so quiet months cost full price. Token pricing is proportional, so a release that changes 15 of 3,627 strings costs almost nothing. Which one is cheaper depends entirely on how often your source text actually changes.
