Transifex prices around collaborators and hands out AI words as a yearly allowance. If your translation process has no collaborators and no seasonality, both of those are the wrong shape.

Collaborators and allowances
The Starter plan begins at $160 a month and includes ten collaborators, with no AI words at all unless you buy the add-on, which starts at $84 a month. Growth begins at $236 and includes 60,000 AI words a year, but only on annual billing. That structure makes sense for an organisation running a translation programme with contributors and vendors. It makes less sense when the work is a build step: you are paying for ten collaborator slots you do not use, and the AI words that do the actual work arrive as a yearly bucket rather than as usage. A bucket is only the right unit when your consumption is predictable, and release schedules are not.

The fair part
When Transifex is the better choice
Transifex has a long history with open-source and a genuinely strong collaboration model, and it shows in the product: contributor management, review workflows, translation memory across projects, screenshot context, and an integration list that covers most places strings live. Enterprise plans go to 100 collaborators with 300,000 AI words a year and enterprise translation memory features. If translation at your company is a programme with contributors, reviewers and vendors in it, that is what the price buys and ShipGlobal does not compete for that job.

Questions
- What is a collaborator in Transifex?
- A person with access to the project: developers, translators, reviewers. Starter includes 10, Growth 30 and Enterprise+ 100. It is the primary thing the plan price is scaled against, which is good if you have many and expensive if you have two.
- Are AI words included?
- Not on Starter. Growth includes 60,000 AI words a year on annual plans, Enterprise+ includes 300,000. Outside those, AI words are an add-on starting at $84 a month with volume discounts. Budget the add-on separately if you plan to use machine translation heavily.
- How is ShipGlobal different in shape?
- There is no collaborator tier and no yearly bucket. €19 per seat and month, plus €10 per million tokens spent as you spend them. A month with no releases costs €19. A month with a big release costs €19 plus the tokens that release actually consumed.
- What about translation memory across projects?
- ShipGlobal keeps its memory in the project rather than in a shared cloud workspace. That means it is yours and it does not disappear when you stop paying, but it also means it is not automatically shared across separate projects the way an account-level TM is. If cross-project memory is a requirement, Transifex covers it and this does not.
